The World's Best

The Tour’s tremendous success can’t be contained as 40 players vie for the chance to cement their legacy

Course 1:Plantation Palms

Tee Times, January 4th, first tee time at 10:00 AM

Course Stats: Par 72, 6240 Yards (Green Tees) $50 green fees

The Tour returns to one of the main staples and most beloved courses; Plantation Palms. The opening par 5 is a deceptive soft introduction, as the course sharply turns up the difficulty for the remaining front 9. The famously firm and fast greens mean high ball hitters have a distinct advantage, but will need all facets of their game to compete here.

Format

Quota (Modifed Stableford)

"It's not about who is the best player; it's about which player has their best day"

The Bonesaw Tour attracts players of a wide ranging skill set, and thus, the format is designed to allow for all players to be competitive. The scoring is quota, or modified stableford for my dimpleheads. Here’s how it works.

  1. Each player will be given a quota that is determined by each players handicap and verified by the committee. Any adjustments to be made for fair play will be made. The higher the quota, the better
  2. Each player begins the round NEGATIVE their quota. If I’m a 25, that means I begin the round at -25
  3. The goal is to have the most points in relation to your quota
  4. Eagle = 8 points, Birdie = 4 points, Par = 2 points, Bogey = 1 point

Additionally, once players have achieved double bogey or worse, they are encouraged to pick up their ball for pace of play

Example

Let’s say Player A has a quota of 25. Over the course of each round, he scores exactly 25 points. At the end of all 3 rounds his final score would be 0 in relation to his quota.

Let’s say Player B has a quota of 10, and scores 13 points each of his three rounds. His final score would be +3, and would finish ahead of Player B.

How Quotas Are Established

  1. Each player will provide the BSGA with their handicap if they have not previously established their Tour Index from competitive rounds
  2.  Your quota will be your handicap – 36, then an additional 10% is taken off

Example

10 handicap = 26 quota.

10% reduction = 23.4

ALWAYS ROUND DOWN

Quota = 23

The commissioner reserves the right to modify outlandish handicaps to protect the field and the integrity of The Tour.

BSGA Rules

The standard USGA rules will be in effect, with a few modifications for player enjoyment. Here are the key distinctions

1) OB doesn’t exist and it’s bullshit. If you go OB and you are in someone’s backyard you treat it like a red stake, with the exception that you can not play it out of the “hazard”. You may take a lateral drop, or drop anywhere along the line the extends from the pin and where you entered the hazard, no closer to the pin.

2) ZERO LIFT CLEAN AND PLACE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

3) There are ZERO gimmes allowed for points. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1 inch away, the ball must enter the cup for a point to be rewarded. Gimmes start at 6 inches, then a foot, then 3 feet, then all of a sudden we got dudes chopping off their dicks and putting on dresses. It’s a slippery slope I’m not willing to entertain.

LOCAL RULES

  • On hole 1-3 the driving range is marked for OB. Even if a player has the ability to hit it out of the hazard they are NOT allowed to; they must take their drop.
